The Backstory

EcomLabs is a shipping and distribution company focused on helping e-commerce businesses succeed. They offer everything from fulfillment and returns to customized logistics solutions. But their website didn’t reflect that ambition. It looked like every other logistics company out there—bland, uninspiring, and outdated.

They came to me with a clear goal: “Make us look like a serious, high-end logistics partner—not just another warehouse.”

The Business Problem

Their old site wasn’t converting. Despite offering solid services, it lacked credibility, clarity, and a modern feel. The founders—Shahir and Harris—wanted a site that would:

  • Stand tall against competitors like ShipMonk and AmzPrep
  • Signal trust, authority, and innovation
  • Help drive more leads from organic traffic

And later on, they wanted to build internal tools for clients and warehouse managers—so the foundation had to be strong.

Why I Was Brought In

I was hired to redesign the full website experience from strategy to UI, and then build it out on WordPress. I also worked closely with the founders to shape the messaging and content, laying the groundwork for future tools they planned to launch.

Research & Discovery

Approach: Competitive and usability analysis
What I Found: While some had solide sites, most competitors had dull, overly templated websites. The designs were serviceable but not memorable. Their messaging focused almost exclusively on years in business, with little to show in terms of innovation, user-friendliness, or brand personality.

This was a huge opportunity. If EcomLabs could show up as a confident, modern, and customer-first brand—they’d stand out immediately.

UX Problems to Solve

  • The old website felt generic and untrustworthy
  • There was no clear visual hierarchy or flow
  • Messaging was vague and lacked authority

I needed to create a high-end experience that made visitors feel like EcomLabs was the obvious choice.

Key Design Decisions

  • Authoritative Look & Feel: I went for bold typography, sharp layout grids, and rich, confident colors to signal professionalism.
  • Clear Messaging: We rewrote sections to directly speak to the pain points of e-commerce brands—delays, packaging issues, returns.
  • Microinteractions: I added subtle animations to help guide users and keep them engaged.
  • Mobile-first Experience: Most potential clients browse from their phones, so the mobile experience had to be clean and snappy.
  • Visual Trust Signals: We highlighted client testimonials, stats, and partnerships to build credibility fast.

Testing & Iteration

We went through several design rounds—iterating on layout, sections, animations, and messaging. Each round got us closer to something that felt premium and authentic. The founders were heavily involved and helped stress-test every page.

Business Outcomes

In the first month after launch, the results spoke for themselves:

  • Over 300 new inquiries through the contact form (more than their old site ever generated combined)
  • Increased interest from higher-ticket clients
  • Improved perception in the market—new clients mentioned the site as a reason they reached out

What’s Next

I'm now working with EcomLabs to design their internal client and warehouse management tool. The site we built together laid the foundation for a more trusted, tech-forward logistics brand.

What I Learned

Good design in B2B isn’t about flashy visuals—it’s about trust. And trust is built through clarity, confidence, and a user experience that respects people’s time and attention.

This project reminded me that even the most “boring” industries come alive when you take the time to understand their users and speak directly to their needs.
